This is the REAL Reason You and Your Lover Think “Differently”

So here’s the thing that finally REALLY clicked for me today. The reason that all our conventional wisdom says, “women and men are fundamentally different from each other in the ways that they think and act” is because that loudest voice, the majority consciousness is still speaking from a heterosexual monogamous standpoint. When the majority of people are in heterosexual couples, thinking “my partner and I are so different from each other!” becomes “Men and Women are so different from each other!” But same sex couples also feel that they and their partner are different from each other. People in poly relationships know that a relationship with one person of a specific gender is NOT a relationship with ALL people of that gender. As human beings, we have a lot in common. More than we have differences. But indeed, there are so many differences. We are unique. We speak, learn, … Read More

1 Akb’al: Trecena of the Dawn

While the nature of daykeeping is liminality, Akb’al represents this time outside of time and space between space most clearly. Akb’al is the daylord of the darkness and the dawn, the time when one lord relinquishes the day to another. Embodying the essence of polarity and potential, Akb’al is the sign of all things love, the attraction between elements of the natural world, the grace and mystery of art, sexuality and beauty. In Akb’al we can see the morning and evening star, the goddess of love and lust who also destroys all which she creates. On Akb’al days, we seek to fulfill our greatest potential by becoming aware of that in our lives which can lead us there. We let go of the old and make room for the new! Honour your evening tonight as the Ik’ wind blows by and Akb’al enters. Use the New Year’s energy to create evening … Read More

Hun (1) Caban – The Trecena of the Heart

Today begins the first new trecena of the sacred year, which began on 8 B’atz’ (monkey) just a few days ago. Some historians believe that the ancient Maya people began their sacred calender on this day instead. Caban is the day of the earth and of earthquakes, the search for wisdom and knowledge, the vital force of the universe and the rhythm of the heart. This is a day representative of First Mother, the moon goddess who first gave us an understanding of the cycles of time. The energy of the next thirteen days should be focused on changing our habits, patterns, methods and modes of thinking about the world and living our lives. We should all become earth keepers and carers. At this time of great change, we can harmonize or human natures, seek balance, evolve our emotions and expand our hearts with great compassion and love. 1 Caban is … Read More
